The city of Thi-Qar occupies nowadays the place of the ancient Sumerian city “ Ur” where the first human law code was found mentioned several times in the bible here is an example, well known as the Code of Urnamo after the Sumerian king who ruled Ur.

Thi-Qar is the place of first Arabian victory against Persia after many years of colonization …a long story full of sacrifices and nobility took place at that city.

Thi-Qar played a decisive role in resisting the British occupation, in 1917 the Kut city was surrounded by the Ottoman empire soldiers assisted by the civilians. Few months later the military situation was so desperate for the British forces in Kut because the support was severed by the civilians in Thi-Qar city who made small patrols that prevented any support from reaching Kut city. The British amounted so much hate for this city, they called it "the vicious tree" or AlShagra AlKabitha in Arabic because its civilians hide behind the trees while making traps for the British military support caravans.

Thi-Qar is the city where thousands of poets, novelists, musicians and scientists were born…on the Euphrates, Thi-Qar hold in her memory 7000 years of human struggle, conflicts and will as well as the human emotions and ethics…

Those who were born there hold the same memories as their city, no matter how old they are, they are all 7000 years old!.

Thi-Qar is proud that those who wanted to destroy Iraq started by destroying it, directly, or indirectly.
