Writing is my passion. When I write, I live what I am writing, I feel that the ink of my pen is my blood, my soul feels the pleasure and pain of every single word. Writing for me is like surgery, no way to live without it, if Alaa is to be Alaa.
I started early in my life to write simple stories affected by cartoon films that I saw, in those stories I imagined myself the hero and lived all the cartoon film again and again.
"History begins at Sumer" was true for my history also. Sumer journal was the place where I developed my skills in writing and got the immediate feed back from my readers. Such a beautiful feeling! to communicate and to see the effect of your communication on the audience.
The story ended by burning what I wrote as Ur was burned... Sumer stopped, I left Iraq and my destiny blew me to Denmark. It took many years before I dared to hold the pen again and write. I was provoked by the pain of terrorism in Iraq. I wrote a series of articles that was begun with an article about Al-Nasserya. It was a success. The tone got more violent as the terror in Iraq got more brutal and my article "Not our brothers" was born. Words of fire. Wounds that bleed to death. Pain that kills. It was difficult to publish the article. Not many dare to tell history frankly...I did...I paid the price.
Then life took me from my greatest passion, writing in order not to lose the other passion, surgery. I had to focus my efforts on my medical carrier.
Now I am happy to write those words while working as a surgeon.
But why I chose English?
This is another story for another occasion...
