Reading: look at what you're eating!

Reading for me, is like breathing, I would suffocate without it. It was my mother who encouraged me to read at my early childhood. I was lucky also as one of my close relatives was working in the National Bureau of publication, he kept me updated with beautiful books that added to those that I was purchasing with my pocket money. This habit of spending money to learn seems to be so rooted in me that even in the worst moments of my life, which are so many, I kept buying books and music CD's. With each book I read I feel that I have added something worthy in my life record, I feel I have acquired an experience that I have never lived, moreover, I feel stronger! Yes, it is really strange feeling, however I enjoy it so much. Books were, and are still, my best friends. During the hard times they were with me, supporting me with the advice that I was craving to and the encouragement that I was in desperate need to. Books were, and are still, my advisors, my teachers and my passion. Wherever I go I find my self surrounded by heaps of books after a short period of time so I decide not to buy more books. But I break the commitment soon after finding a good book! This "bad Habit" is a contributing factor to my poverty. When I came to Denmark in 2001, I was extremely glad to see big libraries with wonderful collections of books and journals. The first thing I did in Denmark was to issue a library card! and the adventure started...

I like to read in history, politics, literature, information technology, medicine and sciences in general. I do not like to read for reading as some people do. Reading for me is as I said a breathing, therefore I am trying to read books that add to my knowledge, books that give.

Reading is the food of soul. "Look at what you are eating" the Quran says. This applys more to the soul food. Choose the best food. It must be clean, norishing, attractive and with a known source if you want to avoid hidden poisons.

From the hundreds of books that I read, the Quran and Nahj Al-Blaga are the two books that became part of me. Those two books are greater than any description. Knowing that the Nahj Al-Blaga is just a derivative of Quran, I realized how great this book is. Quran is challenging humanity since the revelations on the prophet Mohammed fourteen centuries ago. Tens of thousands of books were written about it, yet it is still challenging the brains and the souls of those who read it.

I have read many novels but non of them had a pronounced impact on me in the manner the historical and political books had.
