The most fascinating thing about theDanish educational system is its flexibility. The IT University represents this flexibility wellwithout sacrificing the solid scientific knowledge base.
When I first came to study at the ITUniversity, I encountered some difficulty while figuring out my educational needs and the best wayto satisfy them. Most of the students have such difficulty at the beginning. However I was sure aboutone thing: I wanted to integrate my medical background in the field of information technology. This wasenough to turn the cluttered view to a clear perspective after a while. I was able, with the help ofmy teachers, to design a study programme where I employed my medical background. The courses Itook acted as building blocks. When those building blocks cemented together, they provided me with agood base to construct my thesis project.
For the thesis I was planning to workwith the three-dimensional model of human face. A work largely inspired by the surgical planning ofplastic and reconstructive surgery. After discussing the initial ideas with my teachers at the ITUniversity, the general lines of the project were decided. It was a great opportunity to launch a project thatrealizes my ideas and at the same time satisfies the required standards of a master thesis.
Many factors contributed to mysuccess and will certainly help any student in his/her study. These are clear-cut aims from the beginning, supportive and cooperative teachers, a wide range of options available for the students at the ITUniversity, early design of the educational program and - I saved the best for the last – the flexibilityof the IT University.
IT University is a suitable place to explore andrealize ideas as a student as well as to construct great projects inspired by the ideas. Itis where the past leads the way to the future.
